Pomegranate: A Giant Pod with Edible Seeds

Many are familiar with pomegranates: the odd-shaped red orbs with a flower-looking bloom at one end. You will find them hanging out in the produce department. If you are not familiar with the fruit itself, you certainly are familiar with pomegranate juice, made so popular by POM. The tart pomegranate juice comes from the seeds. The pomegranate fruit itself is a giant pod with edible seeds. But once you master the removal of the seeds, you will find yourself enjoying these tart little seeds on everything during the pomegranate season, September to February.
