City of Dubuque, Iowa, Selected for $800,000 EPA Brownfields Grant

The City of Dubuque was selected by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to receive $800,000 in EPA Brownfields funding through the Multipurpose, Assessment, and Cleanup (MAC) Grant program.

The City of Dubuque will use the multipurpose grant funding to conduct five Phase I and five Phase II environmental site assessments, develop two cleanup and reuse plans, and clean up three catalyst sites. Grant funds also will be used to support community engagement activities. The project’s target area is Dubuque’s downtown district, which includes South Port and the Washington and North End neighborhoods, all of which include manufacturing and industrial mixed-use land.

Grants awarded by EPA’s Brownfields program provide communities across the country with an opportunity to transform contaminated sites into community assets that attract jobs and achieve broader economic development outcomes, while taking advantage of existing infrastructure.
