The DSO Awarded Funding

The DSO was awarded Operating Support Funding and a Special Project Grant from the City of Dubuque. The Special Project Grant ties in with DSO’s November “on air” concerts featuring guest artist YooJin Jang, an extraordinarily talented violinist and native of Korea. Ms. Jang will take center stage at an educational luncheon and rehearsal open to the general public as well as perform the “Autumn” and “Winter” movements from Vivaldi’s Four Seasons on the November 17 and 18 Classics concerts. Ms. Jang will also participate in a residency program, visiting a number of sites within the Dubuque Community School District, and also share her musical expertise working with our youth ensemble students at rehearsals.

The DSO was awarded an Arts and Culture Grant from Mediacom, for our April production of “The Magic Flute” – the capstone of our 60th anniversary celebration and exploration of The Elements! This huge endeavor requires assembling a large ensemble of musicians and highly trained singers from the world of opera. Funds will be applied toward extraordinary expenses associated with the opera such as guest artist fees, stage director, costumes, and sets.
