Grant for Local Skate Park Project

The Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque (CFGD) is excited to announce The Wellmark Foundation has awarded a $65,000 Matching Assets to Community Health (MATCH) grant for the Kids in Dubuque Skate (KIDS) skate park project, a project fund managed by the CFGD.

The $800,000 project is part of a 13-year effort of a group of local community members with a dream to build a new skate park in Dubuque. The grant has allowed the KIDS to exceed its $200,000 fundraising challenge from the City of Dubuque. The city committed $600,000 towards the project in 2014, provided the group could raise the remaining funds.

The new skate park will be located at Flora Park and will offer skate features and additional park amenities.

The grant ensures that Dubuque will have a premier concrete outdoor skatepark for both beginners, experienced skaters, and action sports enthusiasts according to KIDS President Laura Bies.

Groundbreaking is planned for this summer with an anticipated completion by Fall 2018.
