The Dubuque Museum of Art (DuMA) continues to push the envelope in its dedication to bringing excitement, originality, utilitarian and functional art forms to its exhibitions. Coming this June 1 and running until September 9, the museum will present an exhibit entitled Handmade Craft Invitational, which will bring recognition and a newfound admiration to local craft and craftsmanship. Stacy Peterson, Associate Curator and Registrar at the Dubuque Museum of Art, the staff at DuMa, and a talented curatorial team made up of ceramic artist Deloris Fortuna, textile artist Maureen Bardusk, both of Galena, and bootmaker Paul Opperman of Dubuque have gathered together 25 Midwestern craftsman to join the show and display their works.
