It’s Tuesday morning. Your phone rings. An attorney is calling to tell you that your great aunt Edna passed away, leaving you an inheritance of one million dollars. But there’s a catch: Her will requires that you spend it on someone other than yourself.

You have a lot of questions. Where would this money do the most good? What causes are important to me? Should I make a donation to a single nonprofit, or invest the money to support a cause for years to come?

Like many other Dubuquers who want to make a difference, you decide to visit the Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque for guidance. Faye Finnegan, director of donor relations, sits down to tell you about the Community Foundation, a charitable institution that serves the Dubuque area and six rural counties throughout Northeast Iowa.
