Northeast Iowa Community College’s (NICC) Health Information Technology (HIT) – Associate of Applied Science online program has earned a #21 ranking in the U.S. after a review of accredited two-year HIT programs at schools across the nation by AffordableColleges.com.
In its research of 107 Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM)-Accredited programs nationally, AffordableColleges.com cited several standout qualities evident in the NICC program.
The study highlighted the College’s employ of an asynchronous class format to instruct students in the fundamentals of healthcare, such as the principles of disease and human anatomy, alongside courses in cultural diversity and identity. The program takes particular care to prepare graduates for professional success, and 100% of students who graduated with the degree in 2015 reported finding employment in their field, AffordableColleges.com determined. The study evaluated and ranked all programs in the U.S. based on tuition costs, online availability, and employment rates.
Faculty members in the HIT program at NICC have an ongoing commitment to providing an affordable, accessible, and quality education for their students, as well as striving to meet and exceed standards prescribed by the CAHIIM. The HIT program at the College was reaccredited in 2016.
