Grand Opera House Announces Capital Campaign

The Grand Opera House has initiated a capital campaign titled SPOTLIGHT ON THE FUTURE. For the past 30 years, the 126-year-old theatre has been presenting Community Theater as well as a wide variety of additional entertainment. The theater was purchased as a new home for the Barn Community Theater in 1986 for $85,000. Since that time the patrons, volunteers, philanthropists, local businesses, and city and state funding have invested over $5,000,000 in the restoration of historic theatre.

Capital Campaigns in 1998 and 2006 renovated the interior and exterior of the theater earning it a place on the National Register of Historic Places. Renovations have been ongoing including the addition of the elevator in 2010, the restoration of the orchestra area, and in 2015 the addition of the beautiful chandelier. Technical improvements to the theater’s lighting and sound systems have vastly improved the production quality of all Grand Opera House performances.

The SPOTLIGHT ON THE FUTURE Campaign will fund initiatives and create endowments that will ensure the theater’s financial stability for generations to come; putting the spotlight on programming and education.

The Grand Opera House is a 501(C)(3) not-for-profit organization and all contributions may be deducted for federal income tax purposes. All donors to the SPOTLIGHT ON THE FUTRUE Campaign will be listed under the appropriate categories in the playbills, on our website, and on a permanent lobby display

Additional ways to contribute include Take-A-Seat Sponsorships. As a “Take-A-Seat!” campaign sponsor of a seat – or block of seats – you will become part of the history and vibrant future of The Grand Opera House.
