Dubuque’s first stand-alone Chick-fil-A restaurant opened on September 15 at 3500 Dodge St. Local franchise owner, Colby Burnette, awarded a free, one-year supply of Chick-fil-A meals to each of the first 100 adults in line at the new restaurant when the doors opened at 6:00 a.m. The restaurant will be open Monday through Saturday from 6:30 a.m. until 10:00 p.m., serving a full breakfast menu until 10:30 a.m. Like all Chick-fil-A restaurants, it will be closed on Sundays.
Burnette’s route to Chick-fil-A started with his childhood best friend who grew up to be a Chick-fil-A operator, giving Burnette – who eventually married his friend’s sister – the chance to observe the opportunity and rewards of owning a Chick-fil-A restaurant. Burnette, who graduated with a degree in business management from Lander University in South Carolina, spent several years as director of operations for a retail chain before deciding the Chick-fil-A franchise owner opportunity fit his entrepreneurial spirit as well as his desire to mentor young people.
Burnette, his wife Krisi, and their two children are thrilled to join their in-laws, who operate a Chick-fil-A in Waterloo, as part of the Iowa Chick-fil-A family and look forward to serving their guests in Dubuque.
