On-the-go individuals with pressing health needs will now have a new option for fast medical attention. On August 1, UnityPoint Health Finley Hospital introduced UnityPoint Clinic Urgent Care – West, a new model of care that offers quality healthcare in a fast, comfortable and efficient environment to help heal patients and allow them to get back to their busy lives without much interruption. UnityPoint Clinic Urgent Care – East will open later this year.
The difference is in the handoffs, or lack thereof, in the new healthcare setting, located in the Asbury Square on JFK Rd. An Urgent Care team member will greet each patient and remain with that patient during their appointment to eliminate time spent transferring care from one professional to another, as well as drastically reducing wait times in the office. The urgent care staff member handles everything that the patient will need, including vitals, medical history, any laboratory or radiology services required, and will work together with a nurse practitioner, physician assistant, or doctor to diagnose and treat the patient.
Urgent Care will also offer a variety of new amenities and services not always available in other care settings, such as online wait times. Individuals can check wait times to determine which clinic fits into their schedule best. The clinic also offers complimentary refreshments, Wi-Fi, and phone charging stations to help add to the relaxing environment in the comfortable waiting area.
While promising shorter waits, Urgent Care will still offer the high quality care that defines UnityPoint Health – Finley Hospital. “People in our community are busy with work, school, children’s commitments, and all the other activities that keep individuals running. Often times, it’s difficult to arrange their day to accommodate a health care visit,” explains David Brandon, President and CEO for UnityPoint Health – Finley Hospital. “No one has time to be sick. UnityPoint Clinic Urgent Cares are an excellent option to meet our patient’s needs, in a quick, convenient fashion. Our goal is to get our patients well again and back to their fast-paced lives.”
The clinic will be open 8:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m. 365 days a year and can provide care for many conditions, including allergies, cold and flu symptoms, earaches, fevers, minor burns or bruises, minor fractures or sprains, rash or poison ivy, sore throat, immunizations, skin complaints, and urinary tract infections.
