Northeast Iowa Council, BSA Honors Brave Scouter

The Northeast Iowa Council, Boy Scouts of America is proud to honor Robert Felderman, Brigadier General, USA, Retired with the Medal of Merit Award. Robert received his award at the Boy Scout Golf Classic held at Thunder Hills Country Club on July 11, 2016.

On May 22, 2015, Robert Felderman helped pull a man from the scene of a fiery crash. The semi-tractor trailer was travelling on Interstate 80 when it drifted onto the shoulder and struck an overpass. Robert saw the crash and he and another bystander ran to help a man they saw on the ground, pulling him to safety moments before the tractor trailer’s fuel tank exploded.

The Medal of Merit Award is given when a Scout has performed an act of service of a rare or exceptional character that reflects an uncommon degree of concern for the well-being of others.

Robert has been an Executive Board Member of the Northeast Iowa Council, Boy Scouts of America for over five years. He is an active member of the Boy Scout Golf Classic Committee as well as helps on other Scouting Committees.

The Boy Scouts Northeast Iowa Council serves 2,312 youth in six counties in Iowa and Illinois. The Council, supported by 1,081 volunteers, is headquartered in Dubuque, IA.
