The Northeast Iowa Community College (NICC) Foundation has received a grant from the James B. and Melita A. McDonough Foundation to support the College’s Dementia Summit, a conference for healthcare professionals and family caregivers.
The purpose of the Dementia Summit is to provide healthcare professionals and family caregivers with a framework for working with persons with dementia in the most positive, proactive, and caring manner, through the use of local and global resources. The $8,000 in grant funding provides additional financial support for the summit, which is scheduled for Thursday, August 11, at the NICC Town Clock Business Center in Dubuque.
The conference’s intended audience is physicians, nursing home administrators, nurses, social workers, pharmacists, activity therapists, occupational therapists, certified nurse aide, mental health technicians, and family caregivers. Healthcare professionals from all of the counties the college serves are invited to attend. The NICC district includes Allamakee, Chickasaw, Clayton, Fayette, Howard, Winneshiek, Dubuque and Delaware counties.
