Loras College Receives $53,600 Grant for Two-year Internship

Loras College, a member of NCAA Division III and the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC), has received a $53,600 NCAA Division III Ethnic Minority and Women’s Internship Grant to fund a two-year internship to create the position of assistant director of athletic communications/assistant volleyball coach beginning in the fall.

The grant provides funding for entry-level administrative positions at NCAA Division III schools to encourage access, recruitment, selection, and the long-term success of ethnic minorities and women.

During the academic years of 2016-2017 and 2017-2018, NCAA Division III will provide funding toward the salary and professional development of the intern. The intern will work from August to May each of those two years and report to Head Volleyball Coach Jenna Ness and Director of Athletic Communications Jim Naprstek.

The grant program is administered and overseen by Division III Governance and Leadership Development. The annual budget for the grant is $988,600, allowing 40 NCAA Division III recipients to receive funding.
