On May 3, 2016, from 12:00 a.m.-11:59 p.m., The Grant Wood Mississippi River Region (GWMRR), the State of Iowa and Iowa Parks Foundation’s Parks to People pilot region, is participating in the third annual Great Give Day. This 24-hour, online-only event will take place at www.GreatGIveDay.org/grant-wood-mississippi-river-region. The Community Foundations of Jackson and Dubuque Counties sponsor this event for nonprofits to encourage community members to support local nonprofits.
Dubuque, Jackson, and Jones Counties form the Grant Wood Mississippi River Region. The region is working together across jurisdictions to “erase the boundaries” and create Iowa’s first-ever Parks to People Region. The region’s carved river valleys, majestic limestone bluffs, and thriving arts communities provide a perfect canvas for investing in people, parks, and future for Iowa.
Everyone has an opportunity to help make this pilot project a success in two ways:
- Give. Visit www.GreatGIveDay.org/grant-wood-mississippi-river-region on Tuesday, May 3 and make a gift of $10 or more to the Grant Wood Mississippi River Region. This gift will help the GWMRR qualify for additional bonus grant dollars during hourly contests held throughout the day.
- Spread the word. In addition to raising dollars, this is an opportunity for the GWMRR to attract new donors to support their mission. Tell friends and family to mark their calendars for May 3 and to support this community initiative. Participants can also help spread the word by sharing Great Give Day posts on Facebook and Twitter.
