We have certainly been blessed here in Dubuque with access to quality health care. It is an essential part of any thriving community. In this issue’s Community Health Report, Julien’s Journal administers a literary EKG and examines the heartbeat of our local health care institutions.
We will explore how our local and regional hospitals are investing in modernization, state-of-the-art medical technologies, and new local facilities that will improve access to urgent care and the treatment of disease. We will take a look at advancements in cataract and orthopaedic surgery, as well as new treatments for hepatitis C. We will also examine the changing ways we look at mental health. In addition, lifesaving emergency care has taken a quantum leap forward, or perhaps upward, as air transport service comes to Dubuque with the AirCare 3 helicopter.
