There is quite a buzz brewing in Dyersville, IA about a local coffee shop that recently opened under new ownership. Brew & Brew was purchased and reopened on September 3, 2015 by Holly and Jim Doyle. It is located on 1st Ave. E., which is Dyersville’s “Main St.” Holly and Jim have always had a passion for cooking, smoking meats, and creating amazing baked goods. When the opportunity to purchase the business (formerly Groovy Grounds) was presented to them, the decision was an easy one; this was their opportunity to combine their passions with their work. Definitely a win-win decision!

Brew & Brew’s name was inspired by the delicious coffee they brew and the extensive selection of craft beers that they offer. Booths, high-tops, café tables, and comfortable oversized chairs cover the hard wood floors and pictures of Holly and Jim’s boys (Jack, 5, and Owen, 3) decorate the walls along with artwork from Patty’s Pottery in Guttenberg, IA. Most days, Holly can be found visiting with folks while they enjoy their beverage of choice. It really feels like you are sitting in her kitchen at home. Brew & Brew has become the water cooler of sorts for many locals and they gather daily to talk and solve the world’s problems one cup of coffee at a time.

Brew & Brew not only offers coffee and beer, they also have espresso coffee drinks, chai tea, blended and iced coffee drinks, and smoothies. Brew & Brew is the perfect start to the day with a cup of coffee and one of their delicious breakfast sandwiches, homemade pastries, or muffins. The breakfast sandwiches feature farm fresh eggs, melted cheese, and your choice of either sausage or ham served on an English muffin, sourdough bread, or bagel. If you are in a hurry, place your order to-go and get a to-go cup for your coffee, as well.

Besides their breakfast offerings, Brew & Brew also has tasty sandwiches, wraps, salads, and soup available for lunch and dinner. The sandwiches are a step above the normal sandwich shop fare and all of them include a choice of kettle chips, fresh veggies, or apple slices. One sandwich that is very popular is The Pilgrim. This Panini-style sandwich is served on wheat berry bread and features rolled turkey slices, provolone cheese, apple-wood smoked bacon, and a cranberry spread. This is Thanksgiving dinner served-up sandwich style!

Sandwich offerings also range in the familiar. Brew & Brew’s Ruben is definitely one of the best I have ever had. The thinly sliced corned beef, Swiss cheese, thousand-island dressing, and sauerkraut, served up on marble rye bread, and done to a crispy perfection! One of Jim’s favorite menu selections is The “Philly.” Brew & Brew has put their own spin on this sandwich featuring roast beef, sautéed onions, green peppers, and mushrooms with provolone cheese. All of this goodness is served up on a warm, soft, yet toasty hoagie bun.

For a lighter selection, The Clicker may be for you! This sandwich is Brew & Brew’s version of a chicken salad sandwich. To make it extra special, the chicken salad is served with bacon, greens, and provolone cheese on a warm hoagie bun. Add a side of fresh veggies or apple slices and you have a well balanced, delicious, and healthy lunch option! For a heartier lunch combo, enjoy a sandwich or wrap with a cup of homemade soup. The soup selections change daily and Brew & Brew posts them on their Facebook page.

Brew & Brew is becoming quite well known for their smoked meats listed on their Special Smoky Menu. Smoky meat availability changes weekly. The Chuckwagon is one of the most popular sandwiches on this part of the menu. The beef brisket featured on this sandwich is house-smoked for 18 hours and seasoned with a homemade rub. The tender smoked meat is then chopped and served on a toasted pub bun and sauces, including your choice of barbecue sauce or Parmesan peppercorn cream sauce. Pair this sandwich with a stout craft beer and you have a lunch or dinner that will delight your taste buds.

If you are looking to entertain a crowd, smoked meats may be purchased by the pound from Brew & Brew. The meat may be ordered sauced or un-sauced. Along with carry-out catering options, Brew & Brew also offers off-site catering and delivery for your personal or business function. Holly would be more than happy to design a menu and sandwich selections that fit your needs and budget.

Brew & Brew is family- and child-friendly, as well. Any sandwich or wrap can be made kid-sized with a choice of sides. Tables have small chalkboards and chalk for entertaining the tykes.
