Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque awards $31,250 to Local Nonprofits

At its fourth annual Community Block Party, the Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque (CFGD) announced recipients of this year’s CFGD Community Impact Grants. Now in its 12th year, the Community Impact Grant program funds proposals in three priority areas:

Strong Nonprofits – Proposals that build capacity to meet community needs, create collective impact, and ensure collaborative data and investment in leadership

Thriving Families – Proposals that build increased self-sufficiency, create success in the lives of young people, and ensure lasting commitment to healthy neighborhoods

Vibrant Culture – Proposals that build appreciation for the arts, create opportunities for increased social offerings, and ensure openness to a growing diverse population.

Nancy Van Milligen, CFGD president and CEO, announced the grants totaling $31,250 to the following nonprofits and programs:

  • Almost Home Dubuque – $5,750 – A program to employ Rescue Mission residents who are seeking to transition out of homelessness
  • AmeriCorps Partners in Learning – $4,000 – Formal program evaluation
  • Dubuque Community YMCA/YWCA – $4,000 – Planning assistance for a capital campaign to build new facility
  • Mary’s Inn Maternity Home – $2,500 – Board and staff development, and strategic planning
  • Project Concern – $2,500 – Training and development for staff
  • St. Mark Youth Enrichment – $5,000 – Evaluation and data management coordinator
  • St. Stephen’s Food Back – $3,500 – Upgrade to new national food bank software
  • United Way of Dubuque Area Tri-States – $4,000 – Board training
