A recent grant award in the amount of $1,600.00 through a Mediacom Arts and Culture grant will support the Hills & Dales Inclusive Photography Program. The concept of photography as an art form has never been introduced as an option to the people supported by Hills & Dales. Many times people with disabilities are not able to communicate verbally, but through the program, the scenes that capture their eye can become another form of communication.
During this program a professional will be brought in to do a training session with interested participants to share various tips and pointers on capturing the perfect image. Following the training, participants will be encouraged to use a camera whenever they wish. Near the completion of the project all pictures will be evaluated by a group of participants and staff to select a number of photos that will be printed and framed to hang as artwork within Hills & Dales facilities.
Hills & Dales is appreciative of the support Mediacom has provided. This award will help Hills & Dales build meaningful lives for individuals with disabilities by offering services that support the whole person and enhance community inclusion.
