The Dubuque Homeless Advisory Coalition is conducting homeless outreach. The goal of the outreach is to: locate area homeless individuals and/or families who are living outside and offer them services, shelter, and supplies and to count homeless individuals living in area shelters to learn more about their situations.
The Dubuque Homeless Advisory Coalition is seeking community donations to distribute to those struggling with homelessness during outreach. Donation items requested include: adult socks, spoons, forks, flashlights, bug spray, sunscreen, anti-itch cream, manual can openers, rain ponchos, blankets, draw-string or reusable tote bags, hygiene items, reusable water bottles, and bottled water. Donations can be delivered to Project Concern, 1789 Elm St., between the hours of 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m., Monday-Friday.
The Dubuque Homeless Advisory Coalition includes members from area shelters, non-profits, and organizations that provide services to the local homeless population. The coalition meets monthly to discuss current issues homeless clients are facing, trends within the shelters, and community resources that are useful to the homeless population.
Project Concern and the Dubuque Homeless Advisory Coalition encourage the community to get involved in addressing homelessness by providing item donations to make life for the homeless population more comfortable.
