On Tuesday, May 8, National Teacher Appreciation Day, approximately $4,200 in classroom grants was awarded to public school teachers throughout the Dubuque Community School District (DCSD) through the Judi Chandlee Tribute to Teachers Endowment. The gifts will provide much needed funding for supplies, equipment, and innovative educational experiences throughout the district.
DCSD Teachers were invited to submit classroom grant applications to the Foundation for Dubuque Public Schools between February 15 and April 26. Requests were reviewed by a panel of board members, current and former educators, and community volunteers. The grants are funded by the family and friends of Judi Chandlee, a beloved Eisenhower Elementary teacher, who passed away in 2011.
Winners include: from Prescott School – Nicole Kimm, Nicole Gossling, and Melanie McDonough; from ERMS – Jamie Easley; from Carver School – Kelly Neumann; from Washington – Michelle Mentz; from the ALC – Lisa Lueken and Rachel Evanoff; from Marshall – Erin Hermsen; and from Kennedy – Multi-Cat Teachers and Sarah Leonard.
