Robert Broshous, associate vice president and dean of admission at the University of Dubuque, received the Department of Defense’s Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) Patriot Award on March 7, in the Charles and Romona Myers Center on campus. In addition, UD President Jeffrey F. Bullock signed an employer Statement of Support for the Guard and Reserve.

The award honors civilian supervisors for their support of National Guard and Reserve employees via a wide range of measures including flexible schedules, caring for families, and granting leaves of absence if needed. Nominations must come from a National Guard or Reserve member or family member. First Lt. Ryan England, an admission counselor at UD, nominated Broshous for the award.

Since 1972, the ESGR program has sought to foster a culture in which all employers support and value the employment and military service of members of the National Guard and Reserve.
