The Dubuque Area Swimmin’ Hurricanes (DASH) are excited to announce that they have received a $250,000 challenge grant from the Butler Family to help reach their goal of $1 million dollars. DASH has already raised $520,000. Once an additional $230,000 in gifts and 3-year pledges is raised (equaling $750,000), the Butler Family will contribute the remaining $250,000 to achieve the goal of $1 million. The $1million will support the expansion of a modern and state of the art competitive swimming facility at Hempstead High School.
The Dubuque Community School District (DCSD) has already committed $7 million to construct a new aquatic facility similar to the current pool at Hempstead High School. The $1 million commitment to be funded by DASH and community supporters, will create additional lane space that is much needed for continued growth of aquatic programming in the Greater Dubuque area. Not only will the new pool serve as a high-quality venue for Dubuque high school and DASH athletes, but will provide the tri-state area with numerous other benefits.
