Spartan Nation surprised University of Dubuque President Jeffrey F. Bullock and his wife, Dana, with a $25,000 endowed scholarship in their name on October 21, during the Alumni Recognition Brunch in Heritage Center as part of this year’s Homecoming festivities. The Bullocks will determine the criteria for the scholarship.
The Jeffrey and Dana Bullock Presidential Scholarship honors the Bullocks’ dedication and leadership to ensure the University remains a place of hope, opportunity, and promise, centered on UD’s Mission.
Hank Hector (C’61) spearheaded the efforts of alumni to create a student scholarship to commemorate the transformation that has occurred on campus over the past 20 years.
Jeffrey Bullock was appointed the University’s president in June 1998 after serving two years as dean of the University of Dubuque Theological Seminary and vice president of the University. Under his thoughtful leadership, UD has experienced a metamorphosis rooted in the University’s Mission. Enrollment has grown by over 400% to more than 2,300 undergraduate, graduate, and seminary students. At the same time, the campus has been transformed with over $200 million of funded new construction and renovations. In addition, the endowment, which is the primary source of financial aid and scholarship assistance for students, has grown from $16 million to $150 million.
Faculty, staff, alumni, and friends of UD are invited to invest in the Jeffrey and Dana Bullock Presidential Scholarship. To participate, visit www.dbq.edu/invest.
