Premier Bank of Dubuque, Tri-state Mountain Bike Riders (TMBR), and the Dubuque County Conservation Board are pleased to announce plans for construction of a mountain bike trail system on the 78 acre Interstate Power Preserve (IPP). These organizations have cooperated throughout 2017 to identify the property, raise the funds, and select a professional trail builder for the project.
The Wellmark Foundation, McCoy Group, ITC Midwest, Richard Biechler, Parks to People, and TMBR have contributed to make this project possible. These donations in total will allow the Dubuque County Conservation Board to contract for construction of a $160,000 mountain bike trail system at IPP.
Landowski Trailworx of Madison, WI has been selected to design and construct the trail system. Chad Landowski’s extensive experience includes trail building at the Trek Factory Farm, and recent projects in Cuyuna, MN and Munising, MI. He has surveyed the property and is excited to blend trails into the terrain and natural features at IPP. Ground breaking could begin as early as this month. The six-eight miles of trail will offer exciting challenges for all skill levels, and will attract riders to the tri-state community.
The IPP project represents another step toward TMBR’s aspiration to make the tri-state area a Midwest mountain bike destination. TMBR is committed to be a partner for public lands and a catalyst to make recreational projects a reality. TMBR is a chapter of the International Mountain Bike Association (IMBA). If you like what they do, it only takes five minutes to join the cause at www.tmbrtrails.org/join.
