November begins the season when folks think about hosting dinners and parties, often for small groups of friends, but sometimes it grows into a gathering of 15-20 people. Of the questions people ask me when they see me out and about, the most frequent is, “What kind of wine should I serve with this or that?” Not that I don’t like to be stopped and discuss menus or wine/beer (I do), but I’m going to see if I can get a head start for you on addressing these concerns for the upcoming season of entertaining.

Rather than by beverage, I’m organizing this by food style, starting with appetizers and moving on to desserts with recommendations for accompanying beer and wine for each.
