The Dubuque Regional Airport (DBQ) announced that the new Dubuque Airline Passenger Terminal Building has been awarded LEED® Silver. The LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) rating system, developed by the U.S. Green Building Council® (USGBC), is the foremost program for buildings, homes, and communities that are designed, constructed, maintained and operated for improved environmental and human health performance.

The new 33,000 square foot Airline Passenger Terminal is the culmination of a decade long planning process between the Federal Aviation Administration, the state of Iowa, DBQ and other local partners, consisting of 40 million dollars in improvements including the new terminal building, apron, taxiway, entrance road, and parking facilities serving the terminal facility.

The Terminal Building achieved LEED Silver for implementing practical and measurable strategies and solutions aimed at achieving high performance in: sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection, and indoor environmental quality.
