Summer is in full swing and the gardens are really starting to pump out lots of veggie treats for us to use in our kitchens. There are always tons of things to do with fresh vegetables, and in keeping with our mission to avoid the oven at all costs during the summer, we are still focusing on “cool” foods and outdoor cooking. But this month, we are focusing on the sweet treats the summer months bring us: fresh fruit.

Not many of us have fruit trees or bushes in out backyards, but the beauty of living in a community with a fantastic farmers’ market, is that we have access to all the sweet glory summer fruits have to offer. Few things are better in this world than to bite into a ripe piece of fruit, juice running down your arm and chin, angels singing in the background, as you savor the succulent sweetness. We are doing a full fruital recipe edition and bringing summer fruit to your tables in ways perhaps you had not thought of before. Because fruit isn’t just for dessert anymore.
